Steve Alexander
Steve
Alexander was appointed to the Division of Medical Quality by Governor Gray Davis in 2001 and reappointed by Governor Schwarzenegger
in 2004. He is founder and President of The Steve Alexander Group. His background is in communications, facilitation, public affairs
and healthcare, where he works throughout the country with government, non-profit and private clients in large public projects,
consensus building, strategic planning, media and strategic communications. He was formerly San Diego Regional Director of
Burson-Marsteller, the world's largest public relations firm, and was Vice President at Stoorza, Ziegaus & Metzger. He served as
Chairman of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, chaired the Mission Bay Committee as Commissioner for the city of San Diego
Park & Recreation Board, and has a long history of community and civic involvement. His client work has included Scripps Healthcare,
The Nature Conservancy, Alliance Healthcare Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, San Diego State University and the cities of Del Mar,
Coronado, Pacific Grove and Watsonville, among others.
Mr. Alexander earned a bachelor of arts degree from Merrimack College, and a master of arts degree from the U.S. International University. He is a member of the International Association of Facilitators and the International Association of Public Participation. He was selected as one of the "50 People to Watch" in the San Diego region by San Diego Magazine.
